White Color Inspiration

White is a color, the perception of which is evoked by light that stimulates all three types of color sensitive cone cells in the human eye in nearly equal amounts and with high brightness compared to the surroundings. A white visual stimulation will be void of hue and grayness.  This, according to Wikipedia is white.  So what does that all mean for design and inspiration?

It can be the purest color in the room, or the backdrop for anything your heart desires.  We can’t think of a color it doesn’t go with.  And pairing multiple colors with white…super easy.  White allows those colors to be vibrant and as pure as the white.

And of course white on white will work just as well.  Everyone remembers Princess Kate and her sister, both in white.  And yet, Pippa never took away from the beauty of her sisters dress.

I’ll let you all peruse some pictures we all thought would get your Monday (and week) off to a good start.  I know this white will get us thinking as we head off to a design meeting today.  Hope everyone has a great Monday!

Redbird Skyport Hanger

Are you needing to find that “WOW” factor for your next event?  Want to show your guest something new and unexpected?  Why not check out Redbird Skyport in San Marcos.  Located within the Municipal Airport in San Marcos.  This hanger has it all for your next event.  Platinum Weddings and Events and other event industry people in the area got a chance to get a tour and information on this space recently, and what a great space it is.

Redbird Hanger

With a blank slate, there is just about anything you can do!!  The main hangar has about 10,000 Sq. Ft. of workable space.  How does that translate to guest count?  How about 300 of your closet friends for dinner and dancing.  Or 450 for a cocktail launch party.  The possibilities are endless in this space.  And I haven’t even mentioned the fact of tenting right off the hangar door to create an additional element and space.

Some really cool features to talk with the Redbird Skyport crew is their flight simulators.  There are 3 different types in their Flight school that can be used at your event.  You can even make a competition out of it 🙂

Also check out the 5 Redbird planes that are sitting around the space and can be incorporated into your overall design .

Check out a few more images from the hangar itself!  Premiere Party Central brought in the rentals for the afternoon to compliment the Redbird space and concept.  Also check out a few ideas we found that are great compliments to any hanger (including Redbird).

Need design help?  Contact Platinum Weddings and Events for your next Wedding, Mitzvah, or Launch Party and one of our team members can help you put together some great design elements to make that “WOW” factor!

Animals out of Flowers

Animals out of flowers!

Preston Bailey is sitting next to a dog in his car or President and Mrs. Obama had Bo replicated with flowers.  These are truly spectacular show pieces that can be incorporated at an event.  Who does not like peacocks, dogs, or elephants?  They can bring back a childhood memory, or make the little one at your wedding super excited!

Thanks to Abby Daigle with Stems Floral, she created a peacock for Andree and Philip’s wedding.  It was a fantastic greeting to guests as they descended down the stairs to sign the guest book. Hank (as we named him) was touched by everyone (and he did not complain at all!)  One thing I could not watch was how Hank was assembled.  Seeing him come in pieces was weird to me.  So although you might LOVE your pet, you might not want to have him present physically so consider having him replicated out of flowers.

Peacock Theme Color Inspiration

Who would have thought that a color palette consisting of Peacock feather colors would be so striking!  And why wouldn’t you consider some of the colors.  We just love those jewel tones and bright true colors that come from the inspiration.

Want to take the idea a step further…why not have live peacocks at your event and make a truly memorable statement!  Better yet, head over to Green Pastures or Red Corral Ranch and they come with the venue.  Both of these Austin venues are great locations for your next event.

Check out some of our favorite inspiration shots that the team all fell in love with.  Hope you’re all having a splendid Monday 🙂

Unique Entertainment

How are you going to keep your guests entertained?  With all the options out there, how do you decide?  What is unique to you and your fiance?

All wedding guests have heard the “oldies but goodies”:  “The Way You Look Tonight” by Frank Sinatra, or Michael Buble, or Tony Bennett; “I Left my Heart in San Francisco” by Frank Sinatra, or Tony Bennett; & “For Once in My Life” by Frank Sinatra, or Tony Bennett, or Micheal Buble…notice a pattern?

We of course are aficionados of all these talented and well respected musicians.  They have captured our hearts, but remember it is your wedding and time for you to create a unique atmosphere.  Hence the light bulb around our office – Dueling Pianos!

Yes, we said it.  I know you all are having flashback to college weeknights (instead of studying) or that trip to Vegas (bachelor/bachelorette party?).  We all have been known to be an the BEST singer those night to the songs we love such as “Joy to the World”, or “R.E.S.P.E.C.T.”, or “Why Don’t we Get Drunk”…all while enjoying a martini, cosmopolitan, beer, or shots.  Maybe you requested your school’s fight song and led the crowd, maybe the pianist deemed your selection THE WORST SONG IN THE WORLD, but those tips kept coming and they kept playing it (crowd participation)

That was then, this is now.  You might think “I don’t want to rent two grand pianos!  That is not within my budget”.  Well, there is no need to!  These talented musicians bring the pianos with them.  Platinum Weddings personal favorite performer is John King from Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar here in Austin, Texas.  He is Fantastic, Hysterical, and worth every penny you will pay.  You might be thinking “Well, they sing songs that may not fit with my wedding guest”.  When they are at private parties, they can be much more reserved upon request.  Just talk to them.  They are always up for creating a memory for you and your guest to truly enjoy.

You can have your stationer print up the song request cards to go with the décor of the event and even serve your signature cocktail at this time.  So, be it Pete’s Dueling Pianos, Howl at the Moon, or Noteworthy Productions, add a spice to your cocktail hour and give your guests a memorable event (while seeing if they could really make it on The Voice or American Idol).

Cheers!
