Unique Entertainment

How are you going to keep your guests entertained?  With all the options out there, how do you decide?  What is unique to you and your fiance?

All wedding guests have heard the “oldies but goodies”:  “The Way You Look Tonight” by Frank Sinatra, or Michael Buble, or Tony Bennett; “I Left my Heart in San Francisco” by Frank Sinatra, or Tony Bennett; & “For Once in My Life” by Frank Sinatra, or Tony Bennett, or Micheal Buble…notice a pattern?

We of course are aficionados of all these talented and well respected musicians.  They have captured our hearts, but remember it is your wedding and time for you to create a unique atmosphere.  Hence the light bulb around our office – Dueling Pianos!

Yes, we said it.  I know you all are having flashback to college weeknights (instead of studying) or that trip to Vegas (bachelor/bachelorette party?).  We all have been known to be an the BEST singer those night to the songs we love such as “Joy to the World”, or “R.E.S.P.E.C.T.”, or “Why Don’t we Get Drunk”…all while enjoying a martini, cosmopolitan, beer, or shots.  Maybe you requested your school’s fight song and led the crowd, maybe the pianist deemed your selection THE WORST SONG IN THE WORLD, but those tips kept coming and they kept playing it (crowd participation)

That was then, this is now.  You might think “I don’t want to rent two grand pianos!  That is not within my budget”.  Well, there is no need to!  These talented musicians bring the pianos with them.  Platinum Weddings personal favorite performer is John King from Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar here in Austin, Texas.  He is Fantastic, Hysterical, and worth every penny you will pay.  You might be thinking “Well, they sing songs that may not fit with my wedding guest”.  When they are at private parties, they can be much more reserved upon request.  Just talk to them.  They are always up for creating a memory for you and your guest to truly enjoy.

You can have your stationer print up the song request cards to go with the décor of the event and even serve your signature cocktail at this time.  So, be it Pete’s Dueling Pianos, Howl at the Moon, or Noteworthy Productions, add a spice to your cocktail hour and give your guests a memorable event (while seeing if they could really make it on The Voice or American Idol).

Cheers!

Not just plain ole red

Who wants just plain ole red?  No one!

Brides (you are no exception) are unique and want Scarlett red, Burgundy red, Rhapsody red, Vampire red (without the teeth), Fire red, Black red, Autumnal red, Candy-Apple red (different from apple red), dare we say Blood Red (but without the mess) and the list goes on and on. You can also venture into the lighter shade of life and that goes into pink!

Make sure when you are researching the red that you would like to have for your wedding, you know what the exact color is. It can be called many different names. It is a good idea to head on over to the paint store (Home Depot, Lowe’s, Breed & Co.) and look for a color story for your event.  As you visit your vendors, showing them your color story will allow them to coordinate the finest of details for your wedding.  With Valentine’s day coming up, embrace your inner red, be it Scarlett, blood, burgundy or candy apple 🙂

Take a look over this amazing Red wedding by The Platinum Wedding team!!  Happy Monday everyone

Hanging Ice Sculpture

It is often said to us by our clients “what do you LOVE about weddings”.  Many times it is difficult since we really LOVE many things about weddings.  We love meeting clients, meeting interesting people and developing interesting ideas.  My current favorite thing is anything that can be “hung” from the ceiling.  Chandeliers can be created in many ways however, simple crystal chandeliers provide a spectacular showpiece at a wedding.  Throw in some candles and guests will be talking up a storm.  This is a fantastic way for you to change the atmosphere of a room and make it insanely romantic and intimate.  We hung ice from a ceiling at a Mitzvah party.  It was the talk of the town and an effective way to create conversations with your guests.  Many thanks to Full Spectrum Ice for this amazing hanging ice display. It was real and everyone touched it!
