On base you should look to the Military Chaplain and Base Protocol Officer for advice and to get the proper protocol based on the branch being represented.  This is also where a Certified Wedding Planner can also help out as they are trained on the different needs that come along with Military Weddings.  There are different uniforms (based on time, location), proper seating, invitation work, and traditions to follow.

Do still remember that bride and groom can decide how they would like the evening to feel.  Some couples opt for the two them to be in civilian clothes and attendants or guest can choose uniform.  Other couples prefer the uniform at the wedding and require it of their guest.

Dessert Centerpieces

Everyone loves Dessert!  I know we do around here.  Weddings and Events are no exception to the dessert love.  There are many options for displaying and presenting and one of our favorites is having the desert become the centerpiece.  If you are having a family style meal, then it blends right in with the rest of the meal.

Having trouble thinking of something other than wedding cake?  Do you have so many different desserts that you love?  Why not share all those favorites with your guest.  The different options could also signify different moments in your lives coming to the day of your event.  Remember what you had on a first date?

Couldn’t help but look around and find some of our favorites.  Is this something that you would love doing at your wedding?  We love helping create a design with our clients!

Unique Entertainment

How are you going to keep your guests entertained?  With all the options out there, how do you decide?  What is unique to you and your fiance?

All wedding guests have heard the “oldies but goodies”:  “The Way You Look Tonight” by Frank Sinatra, or Michael Buble, or Tony Bennett; “I Left my Heart in San Francisco” by Frank Sinatra, or Tony Bennett; & “For Once in My Life” by Frank Sinatra, or Tony Bennett, or Micheal Buble…notice a pattern?

We of course are aficionados of all these talented and well respected musicians.  They have captured our hearts, but remember it is your wedding and time for you to create a unique atmosphere.  Hence the light bulb around our office – Dueling Pianos!

Yes, we said it.  I know you all are having flashback to college weeknights (instead of studying) or that trip to Vegas (bachelor/bachelorette party?).  We all have been known to be an the BEST singer those night to the songs we love such as “Joy to the World”, or “R.E.S.P.E.C.T.”, or “Why Don’t we Get Drunk”…all while enjoying a martini, cosmopolitan, beer, or shots.  Maybe you requested your school’s fight song and led the crowd, maybe the pianist deemed your selection THE WORST SONG IN THE WORLD, but those tips kept coming and they kept playing it (crowd participation)

That was then, this is now.  You might think “I don’t want to rent two grand pianos!  That is not within my budget”.  Well, there is no need to!  These talented musicians bring the pianos with them.  Platinum Weddings personal favorite performer is John King from Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar here in Austin, Texas.  He is Fantastic, Hysterical, and worth every penny you will pay.  You might be thinking “Well, they sing songs that may not fit with my wedding guest”.  When they are at private parties, they can be much more reserved upon request.  Just talk to them.  They are always up for creating a memory for you and your guest to truly enjoy.

You can have your stationer print up the song request cards to go with the décor of the event and even serve your signature cocktail at this time.  So, be it Pete’s Dueling Pianos, Howl at the Moon, or Noteworthy Productions, add a spice to your cocktail hour and give your guests a memorable event (while seeing if they could really make it on The Voice or American Idol).

Cheers!
