Redbird Skyport Hanger

Are you needing to find that “WOW” factor for your next event?  Want to show your guest something new and unexpected?  Why not check out Redbird Skyport in San Marcos.  Located within the Municipal Airport in San Marcos.  This hanger has it all for your next event.  Platinum Weddings and Events and other event industry people in the area got a chance to get a tour and information on this space recently, and what a great space it is.

Redbird Hanger

With a blank slate, there is just about anything you can do!!  The main hangar has about 10,000 Sq. Ft. of workable space.  How does that translate to guest count?  How about 300 of your closet friends for dinner and dancing.  Or 450 for a cocktail launch party.  The possibilities are endless in this space.  And I haven’t even mentioned the fact of tenting right off the hangar door to create an additional element and space.

Some really cool features to talk with the Redbird Skyport crew is their flight simulators.  There are 3 different types in their Flight school that can be used at your event.  You can even make a competition out of it 🙂

Also check out the 5 Redbird planes that are sitting around the space and can be incorporated into your overall design .

Check out a few more images from the hangar itself!  Premiere Party Central brought in the rentals for the afternoon to compliment the Redbird space and concept.  Also check out a few ideas we found that are great compliments to any hanger (including Redbird).

Need design help?  Contact Platinum Weddings and Events for your next Wedding, Mitzvah, or Launch Party and one of our team members can help you put together some great design elements to make that “WOW” factor!

Best Man Speeches

We have all heard the “horrific” best man toasts.  The one where the best man (who has already partaken in some fine spirits) resembles Steve Buscemi in The Wedding Singer and the band leader or event planner has to step in to “save the day”.  Couples, remember that there should be a couple of people to toast and congratulate you.  The love that comes from the heart and a speech is something that last a lifetime.  Having your event planner will also help you in communicating with the “speakers” to make sure they are ready and are sent out to the mic with confidence (and a pep talk if needed).

We have heard some fantastic best man speeches which have left the crowd speechless at numerous events.  Mostly, it is because the speech is well prepared and the delivery is flawless (and the best man still smells like Burberry and not Shiner Bock).  We always travel with a copy of a best man’s toast in our emergency kit (in the event that it is needed) so we encourage you to do the same. Here are some good “one liners” from notable people you might consider using.

Remember if you are the one giving the toast, consider this an honor to speak about the happy occasion and remember who you are talking to when you are working on your drafts and ideas.  And also keep in mind with certain statements, you may be audience participation, so be prepared to let the guest react.

Quotes:

“Keep your eyes wide open before marriage and half-shut afterwards.” ~Benjamin Franklin

“In order to be happy with a man, you must understand him a lot and love him a little.  To be happy with a woman, you must  lover her a lot and not try to understand her at all.” ~Unknown

“Marrying a man is like buying something you’ve been admiring for a long time in a shop window.  You may love it when you get home, but it doesn’t always go with everything in the house.” ~Jean Kerr

“I love being married. It’s so great to find that one special person you want to annoy for the rest of your life.” ~Rita Rudner

“A wedding anniversary is the celebration of love, trust, partnership, tolerance, and tenacity.  The order varies for any given year.” ~Paul Sweeney

“Marriage means commitment.  Of course, so does insanity.” ~unknown

Peacock Theme Color Inspiration

Who would have thought that a color palette consisting of Peacock feather colors would be so striking!  And why wouldn’t you consider some of the colors.  We just love those jewel tones and bright true colors that come from the inspiration.

Want to take the idea a step further…why not have live peacocks at your event and make a truly memorable statement!  Better yet, head over to Green Pastures or Red Corral Ranch and they come with the venue.  Both of these Austin venues are great locations for your next event.

Check out some of our favorite inspiration shots that the team all fell in love with.  Hope you’re all having a splendid Monday 🙂

Children’s Choir for Ceremony

Kids in weddings?  The question that every family debates and decides on during the planning process.

For some people, that thought makes chills run up their spine.  For others, they embrace their inner youth by having many kids in their wedding.  Who can resist the niece or nephew in their outfits?  Who can resist their compliance at the rehearsal, and then trying something new the day of the wedding?  We personally love kids in weddings and are always on hand to give the little ones some great advise or pep-talks.  They are most often a sweet comedic relief from the internal stress the bride and others are experiencing (good or bad stress).

One of the sweetest things I have seen in a wedding is the use of a children’s choir (check out the video and hear some tunes while you continue reading!).

There is nothing more angelic than to be waiting for a ceremony to begin and listen to a children’s choir.  Most churches have their own children’s choir which you can inquire about using  and most cities have a children’s choir.  From the choir, you can see about incorporating musical instruments to add another unique element.

In Austin, we have the Austin Children’s Choir.  Don’t worry, these kids are little professionals are often from diverse backgrounds with an excellence in choral experience provided by highly trained professionals and their ages range from 6-18.  We have also had the distinct pleasure of listening to the African Children’s Choir (they do travel to Austin on occasion).  They are truly an amazing performance group, however, you need to catch them when they are in your area as they travel the world acting as the ambassador for Africa’s most vulnerable children.  So don’t be afraid to enlist the help of children at weddings.  They can be a truly wonderful addition.

Enjoy your weekend everyone!

Not just plain ole red

Who wants just plain ole red?  No one!

Brides (you are no exception) are unique and want Scarlett red, Burgundy red, Rhapsody red, Vampire red (without the teeth), Fire red, Black red, Autumnal red, Candy-Apple red (different from apple red), dare we say Blood Red (but without the mess) and the list goes on and on. You can also venture into the lighter shade of life and that goes into pink!

Make sure when you are researching the red that you would like to have for your wedding, you know what the exact color is. It can be called many different names. It is a good idea to head on over to the paint store (Home Depot, Lowe’s, Breed & Co.) and look for a color story for your event.  As you visit your vendors, showing them your color story will allow them to coordinate the finest of details for your wedding.  With Valentine’s day coming up, embrace your inner red, be it Scarlett, blood, burgundy or candy apple 🙂

Take a look over this amazing Red wedding by The Platinum Wedding team!!  Happy Monday everyone
